At WILD Tulum, we take immense pride in being a woman-owned restaurant, where creativity, innovation, and passion for culinary and mixology artistry flourish under the guidance of our fearless female leader.
Led by our trailblazer Karen Young, WILD Tulum exudes an inspiring ambiance where ideas come to life, and flavors come alive. A former music festival producer, she traded in promoting global festivals to creating a magical off-grid restaurant in the Tulum jungle. Never one to do things by halves… WILD is a truly unique entity in the jungle, much like an art sculpture, dramatic and ethereal.
A spirit for adventure and supporting people in numerous ways have always been part of her life model and at WILD her ethos is prevalent. Each member of the team is part of the family, learning, growing, developing new skills and encouraged to live a life less ordinary.
A long time humanitarian activist, throughout her music industry years Karen was a key part of EXIT Festival's NGO endorsing change and positive education to many community and humanitarian missions such as the MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Human Trafficking) campaign in Eastern Europe as well as supporting UK based music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins, rounding up DJs and herself to do a charity skydive to raise money for this great cause. Also an active advocate of the refugee entities UNHCR, UNRWA, and Choose Love, she spent time in a Syrian Refugee camp in Lebanon after raising thousands of dollars to provide food and essential items.
In Tulum, during COVID-19, she launched the ‘Tulum Emergency Food Packages Fundraiser’ helping thousands of families in need during the pandemic with NGOs Tulum Food Bank, Red Sostenible, La Fundacion de las Mujeres de Tulum and Los Amigos de la Esquina (LADLE).
She is a guardian for LADLE - Los Amigos de la Esquina, helping to raise funds and awareness for this beautiful project in the local community.
